Overview
Veilchenblau is a rambling rose of the hybrid multiflora group, bred in Germany by Hermann Kiese and introduced by J.C. Schmidt; sources give its date as 1869 or 1909. It is a cross of 'Turner's Crimson Rambler' and 'Souvenir de Brod'. The small violet-lilac flowers are only 3 to 4 cm across and lightly scented.
