Overview
Xtra-Tender 277A is a bicolor supersweet (sh2) hybrid popular with market growers and home gardeners across the South for its exceptionally tender, high-sugar kernels that keep their sweetness after picking. Ears are 7.5 inches with a dense 18 to 20 rows of yellow and white kernels on 6 to 7 foot stalks. Like all sh2 corn it germinates poorly in cool, wet ground, so sow an inch deep only when the soil is thoroughly warm, in a block for pollination, and keep it away from su and se plantings. Feed nitrogen and water deeply as ears fill.
