Overview
Tom Thumb is a dwarf heirloom popcorn only 3 1/2 feet tall, bearing two small ears of 3 to 4 inches with 18 kernel rows per plant. It can be sown thickly in rows 18 inches apart, or even in containers, so it fits where a full-size popcorn would not. Kernel color is reported as yellow by seed catalogs and as deep red by other sources. The popped kernels are somewhat firmer than the lightest popcorns. It matures late, so allow the ears to dry on the stalk.
