Overview
Neon is an early hybrid grown as much for its looks as its harvest: deep pink to magenta, semi-cylindrical, mid-sized fruit with a bright green calyx, borne on strongly branched plants. The white flesh is mild, tender and nearly seedless, much like a standard Italian eggplant. Plants stay fairly compact and set heavily, so it fits containers and small beds as well as open ground. Start indoors 6 to 8 weeks before transplanting into fertile soil in full sun once nights stay above 55F. Pick at 4 to 6 inches while the skin is glossy; the color dulls and the skin toughens if left too long.
