Overview
Bambino is a true dwarf eggplant, only about a foot tall (12 to 20 inches), with dark stems and lavender flowers, and it covers itself in thumb-sized dark purple fruit in clusters of one to three at nearly every node. Its small size and shallow roots make it a natural for patio pots, balconies and ornamental edging, and it begins fruiting earlier than full-sized eggplants and keeps going once established. Start indoors 6 to 8 weeks before transplanting into full sun. Pick the little fruit while still glossy and firm; once the skin dulls, the seeds have begun to harden.
