Overview
Pink Banana is an heirloom for gardeners with room to spare. The long vines, which can run 15 feet, produce banana-shaped fruit 2 to 3 feet long and 6 to 8 inches across, anywhere from 10 to 50 pounds depending on how long you let them grow; harvesting at 30 inches or under gives the best quality. The skin turns pink-yellow at maturity and the medium-dry yellow-orange flesh is sweet and tender around a small seed cavity. Sow directly after frost into rich, warm ground in full sun. Pick when the rind hardens and the color changes, cure, and the big fruit will store for months somewhere cool and dry. Also listed as Jumbo Pink Banana.
