Overview

Jarrahdale (sometimes spelled Jarradale) is an Australian heirloom pumpkin with a drum shape, heavy rounded ribs and a slate gray to silvery blue-gray skin that makes it a favorite for autumn displays. Fruit runs 6 to 10 pounds, with thick, sweet, nutty orange flesh that is free of strings. Vines are long and usually carry one or two fruit each, so sow directly after frost into warm soil, give them plenty of room, feed and water generously while the fruit sizes, and rest developing pumpkins on straw. Cut when the rind has hardened and the color is complete, cure, and it stores well. Around 100 days from sowing.
