Overview
Table Gold is an open-pollinated acorn squash from Musser Seed Company (1979), bred from Table King crossed with Burpee Golden Zucchini. The bush plants stay compact and produce gold, acorn-shaped fruit of about 1.5 pounds with yellow flesh, ripening to a bright orange. It is unusually flexible: pick it immature and cook it like a summer squash, or let it mature for winter use. The strain has a known quirk of 10 to 20 percent malformed female flowers, so expect a few blossoms that never set. Adaptation is wide.
