Overview
One Ball is the yellow member of Hollar Seeds' billiard-themed round squash trio, released in 2005 as the third entry after the dark green Eight Ball and the pale Cue Ball. The bushy plant sets shiny golden spheres, often marked with a green star at the blossom or stem end, and they are best cut at 2 to 3 inches across while the rind is thin and the flesh crisp and nutty. It carries resistance to both zucchini yellow mosaic and watermelon mosaic viruses, a genuine help in humid gardens where aphids spread both. The compact plant and small fruit make it a good candidate for succession sowing in raised beds through a long warm season. Direct sow after frost once soil has warmed.
