Overview
Honey Select was the 2001 All-America Selections winner, a yellow triple-sweet (synergistic) hybrid from Novartis that combines roughly three-quarters se kernels with a quarter sh2, so you get tender kernels with high sugar and long holding time. Ears are 8 inches with a tightly packed 18 to 20 rows. Sources list maturity from 70 to 79 days. Sow only after the soil has warmed to about 65F, in a block for pollination, and keep it apart from other corn types so the sweetness is not diluted. Side-dress with nitrogen at knee height and keep water steady through silking. Bred for the Northeast and roadside markets.
