Overview

Tigerella is a British heirloom, also sold as Mr. Stripey in the UK, not to be confused with the large beefsteak of the same name. The open-pollinated, indeterminate vines bear small two-inch fruit, two to four ounces, with red skin and orange-gold stripes and a tangy, balanced flavor. It was intended for greenhouse growing but does well outdoors, ripens evenly, and rarely cracks. Early, about 55 to 75 days from transplant. Stake or cage the vines and pick once the blossom end has colored fully while the fruit is still firm.
