Overview
Golden Wonder is a late maincrop potato with russet skin, found by Mr Brown of Arbroath in 1906. Botanically it is a periclinal chimera, with Golden Wonder tissue over a Langworthy core. The flesh is very dry and floury, ideal for baking, roasting and frying, though it falls apart if boiled too long. Yields tend to be low, so it is grown more for flavour and texture than bulk.
