Overview
Flora-Dade (often written Floradade) is an open-pollinated University of Florida tomato released in 1976 from a Walter x Fla. 2153 cross, bred for the humid South and still widely grown there. Determinate plants with jointless pedicels bear firm, smooth, deep-globe red fruit of 5 to 7 ounces. Resistance includes gray leaf spot, Verticillium wilt race 1 and Fusarium wilt races 1 and 2. Because it is open-pollinated, seed saved from the best fruit comes true, a real plus for gardeners who want a locally adapted line. Maturity is about 69 to 80 days.
