Sun Chief (registered as Sunchief, XP 10081) is an Asgrow F1 hybrid from 1999 bred for the Northeast and eastern Canada. Tall determinate plants set a concentrated crop of large, uniform, firm red fruit of about 8 ounces with green shoulders and smooth blossom ends, in the early to mid season. Resistance includes Verticillium race 1, Fusarium races 1 and 2, Alternaria stem canker, and intermediate resistance to gray leaf spot. A solid choice for a heavy flush of slicers.
