Overview
Heinz 1350 is the H.J. Heinz Company's determinate processing tomato, released in 1963 and long grown for ketchup before it became a home canning favorite. Fruit is uniform, crack resistant and about 6 to 8 ounces, with thick walls and small seed cavities that cook down to sauce without much water. Compact plants around 3 to 4 feet ripen most of the crop in a few weeks, which is exactly what you want for big batches. It resists verticillium and fusarium wilt, is adapted to the eastern half of the US, and the fruit is also fine in salads.
