Overview
Persimmon is an heirloom whose round, deep orange fruit really does resemble a ripe persimmon. The main reference gives fruit of three inches and three to five ounces, while other sources describe a much larger beefsteak; either way the flesh is meaty and sweet with low acid. Vines are indeterminate, five to six feet tall, and need a stake or cage. Keep moisture consistent to prevent blossom-end rot and harvest when the color is fully developed and the blossom end yields slightly.
