Overview
Mountain Spring is a North Carolina State University hybrid (NC 8276 x NC 84173) released through Rogers in 1990 and one of the early members of the well-known Mountain series. The dwarf, bushy determinate plants bear large, dark red fruit of about 9 ounces, deep oblate to globe-shaped, smooth and very firm, with light green shoulders. The fruit ripens slowly, which lets it hang on the vine longer without softening. Resistance to Fusarium wilt races 1 and 2 and Verticillium wilt race 1 is included, and it was bred for the eastern United States.
