Overview

Strawberry, also called Two Inch Strawberry, is an heirloom popcorn whose tiny 2 by 1.5 inch glossy ears look uncannily like a ripe strawberry, with plump mahogany-red kernels that pop up white. Plants are compact at 4 to 6 feet and carry one or two ears each. It is a late, open-pollinated type, around 95 days or more, harvested dry: leave ears on the stalk until the husks are brown, then cure them another three or four weeks somewhere warm and airy before rubbing the kernels off. The dried ears keep for months as autumn decoration, and children love them. Sow in a block after frost in fertile soil and keep moisture steady while ears form.
