Overview
Wautoma is an early, open-pollinated pickling cucumber with a disease package unusual for a non-hybrid. The 4 to 5 foot vines produce 4 to 5 inch fruit that is bitter-free and burpless, so it eats well fresh as well as in the jar. It stands up to scab, anthracnose races 1 and 2, downy and powdery mildew, cucumber mosaic virus and target leaf spot (STM), a real help in humid summers. Vines of this length appreciate a low trellis.
