Overview
Burpless Beauty is a slicing cucumber selected for mildness: thin, dark green skin that needs no peeling, white flesh, a small seed cavity, and little of the bitterness or gassy compounds of older slicers. Vigorous vines keep bearing through the summer as long as you keep picking. Harvest at 8 to 10 inches while the skin is still glossy and the fruit firm; oversized fruit left on the vine slows new fruit and can turn the skin tough and bitter. Direct sow about an inch deep once the soil is warm, choose a sunny spot with good drainage, and run the vines up a trellis so the fruit grows straight and stays out of the dirt.
