Overview
Pot-a-peno F1 from PanAmerican Seed is a jalapeno scaled down for pots, a 2021 AAS regional winner (Great Lakes, West/Northwest). The mounded, compact plants stand only 12 to 15 inches with dark green foliage, yet bear 35 to 50 pointed, conical jalapenos of 3 to 4 inches. Green fruit has the familiar spicy bite; left to ripen red it turns sweeter. Trial growers praised the early maturity, good field holding and the way fruit snaps off cleanly without tearing stems. No staking needed. Grow in a 10- to 12-inch container or 12 to 18 inches apart in the bed; do not direct sow. Green fruit about 45 to 50 days from transplant, red at 60 to 65.
