Overview
Red Knight (PS 213896) is a Seminis / Petoseed hybrid bell from breeder John Bill that earns its reputation on wall thickness and disease resistance. Strong, compact plants set big, blocky, square fruit about 4.5 inches across, green at roughly 65 days and ripening to an intense, uniform red. It resists tobacco mosaic virus, potato virus Y and the three common races (1, 2, 3) of bacterial leaf spot, which is why it is widely planted in the Southeast and Northeast. Start seed 6 to 8 weeks before transplanting and set out in full sun after frost. Red-ripe fruit is markedly sweeter than green and is the stage to use for roasted red peppers.
