Overview
Chichimeca is a large-fruited jalapeno hybrid from Seminis, released in 2004 for the Mexican market. Pods measure just over 4 inches long and 2 inches wide, around 36 grams each, with thick walls and real pungency. They ripen red but are most often picked green, which is when the plant delivers its concentrated, early set. The plant itself has green stems, green foliage and white flowers, and it shows good resistance to potato virus Y. First green pods come in about 60 days from transplant. Conchos is the comparison variety. Pick it if you want oversized jalapenos for stuffing, poppers or slicing.
