Overview
Red Delicious is a Burpee bell pepper hybrid named for its flavor: fully ripe red fruit are said to carry a distinct apple-like taste. The fruit are on the small side for a bell, about 3 inches (up to 76 mm) across, green at first and ripening red in roughly 60 days from transplant. That early maturity makes it practical in cooler regions where large bells struggle to color up. Grow in full sun and let the fruit turn fully red to get the flavor it was named for. Nice for fresh eating and for salads where the sweetness shows.
