Overview
Riot is an ornamental dwarf pepper bred by J.R. Baggett and D. Kean at Oregon State and released in 1988. Short, bushy, upright plants carry spikes of small conical fruit that ripen through ivory, purple and red, all held above the foliage where they show. The fruit are hot and edible, but the plant is grown for the color display, which starts early, about 50 days, and continues over a long season. It was selected to be earlier and more compact than Fiery Festival. Useful in containers, edging and mixed bedding.
