Overview

Plum Regal is an F1 paste tomato from North Carolina State University (NC 05255) with a disease package that most paste heirlooms lack. Determinate plants bear deep red, crack-resistant plum fruit of about 4 ounces with excellent interior color from the crimson gene. It resists tomato spotted wilt virus, early blight, Verticillium wilt race 1, and both common Fusarium wilt races, carries the Ph-3 gene for late blight, and shows moderate bacterial spot resistance. Maturity is about 68 days in one source, though the ASHS registration calls it late season and notes it is not suited to hot-season production. A strong choice for sauce makers in humid, blight-prone regions.
