Overview

Mexican Sunset F1 is the hotter sibling of Mexican Sunrise, a Hungarian hot wax pepper from Seeds By Design and a 2018 AAS regional winner (Southeast). The pointed, conical fruit runs 6 to 7 inches and 1.5 to 2 ounces and colors from pale green through yellow and gold to red on a staggered schedule, so a plant shows several colors at the same time. Growers found the flavor best at red ripe, tried it raw, in salads and baked and stuffed, and rated it well for pickling. Bushy plants stay 20 to 22 inches with no staking, set 40 or more fruits early and heavily, and tolerate TMV. Suits containers. About 60 to 65 days from transplant.
