Overview
Aristotle X3R is a widely grown bell pepper hybrid built around resistance to bacterial leaf spot races 1, 2 and 3 (the X3R stack), a disease that spreads in warm, rainy, humid weather and can strip a pepper plant of leaves. It also resists potato virus Y and tobacco mosaic virus, with some resistance to Phytophthora. The fruit are square, about 4 1/2 inches, thick-walled, dark green without anthocyanin blotching, and ripen to red on a compact, well-branched plant that handles heat well. Maturity is around 75 days from transplant. Start seed indoors 8 to 10 weeks ahead and plant after frost into rich, free-draining ground in full sun. It is the standard recommendation for Gulf South and other humid gardens.
