Overview
Flamingo is a Harris Moran bell hybrid from 1992 that changes color three times. The immature fruit are a whitish ivory-yellow, then turn orange-pink and finish orange-red, so a single plant can show all stages at once. Fruit are medium-sized bells with thick, waxy walls, mostly three-lobed and tapering toward the blossom end, smooth and very firm. It was bred as a wider-fruited alternative to Gypsy, and it resists tobacco mosaic virus. With around 66 days to the first fruit it is early enough for most gardens. Pick at any stage: pale for crunch, red for sweetness.
