Yolo Wonder is an open-pollinated bell pepper released in 1952 by Campbell Soup Co., bred from California Wonder crossed with Elephant Trunk. It was created to add resistance to the common strain of tobacco mosaic virus, and it is larger and stands up to mosaic better than its California Wonder parent. Plants are compact, about 22 inches tall, with dense foliage and pendant fruit that is thick-walled and ripens from green to red. Green peppers are ready at around 75 days from transplanting. Being open-pollinated, seed can be saved. It is a sensible standard bell for gardens where mosaic viruses tend to show up.
